Today in Sarajevo, the 29th anniversary of the death of the legendary commander Zaim Imamovic was honored. Imamovic, commander of the 14th Division of the 1st Corps of the Army of BiH, was killed on October 9, 1995, just before a permanent truce was established in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Imamovic played a crucial role in defending the region, forming the First Drinska brigade in 1992. He is best known for leading the operation Krug in 1992, where he liberated Gorazde and surrounding areas from occupation forces. For his bravery, Imamovic was posthumously awarded the highest military honor, the “Zlatni ljijan/Golden Lilly” award.
Imamovic’s legacy lives on as a hero of the Drina, remembered for his courage and leadership during one of the most challenging times in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s history.
