Uruguayan Government Supports Israel’s Right to Self-Defense
Uruguayan Foreign Ministry Omar Paganini reiterated Israel’s right to self-defense in response to the Hamas raids, emphasizing the need for diplomatic solutions to the conflict in the Middle East. Paganini expressed concern over civilian casualties and forced displacements, urging all parties to de-escalate the situation.
Paganini condemned the brutal attack by Hamas, which led to a significant loss of life and called for the immediate release of hostages. He acknowledged Israel’s right to defend itself but also called for a peaceful resolution and a ceasefire in the region.
In support of Israel, National Party presidential candidate Álvaro Delgado emphasized the need to combat terrorism and reiterated the call for the release of all hostages. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Roni Kaplan, of Uruguayan descent, highlighted the ongoing efforts to secure the release of all hostages and safeguard Israeli civilians from terrorist threats.
