British International Investment (BII) has appointed Leslie Maasdorp, former CFO of the Brics bank, as its new CEO. Maasdorp, who recently completed his term at the New Development Bank (NDB), will take over from outgoing CEO Nick O’Donohoe.
The NDB, established in 2015 by the Brics group, aims to provide financial support for member states’ development objectives. Maasdorp’s experience in this field makes him a valuable addition to BII, which invests around £1 billion annually in regions like Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean on behalf of the British government.
Maasdorp’s appointment comes at a time when BII is looking to expand its reach and impact. With plans to deploy $5 billion in loans by 2024 and recent expansions to include countries like Bangladesh, the UAE, and Egypt, Maasdorp’s leadership will be crucial in driving BII’s mission forward. We look forward to seeing the positive changes and developments Maasdorp will bring to BII under his new role as CEO.
