PDP kicks as Alia swears in Benue LG chairmen

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, recently inaugurated the newly elected local government chairmen, urging them to prioritize good governance without bias. The All Progressives Congress secured victory in all 23 chairmanship and 276 councillorship seats in the state election.

Although the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, raised concerns about irregularities during the election, Governor Alia affirmed the credibility of the process, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic values.

In his address to the new chairmen, Governor Alia stressed the significance of integrity, foresight, and selfless service in leadership. He encouraged collaboration between local and state governments to enhance rural development initiatives.

Despite allegations of malpractice, the PDP continues to call for the nullification of the election, citing concerns about electoral integrity. The party’s demand for a fresh poll underscores the ongoing political tensions in the state.
