In a recent speech at the University of National Defense, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un emphasized the importance of maintaining strategic balance on the Korean peninsula to prevent war. He justified the country’s policy aimed at acquiring means to “contain the adversary and keep the situation under control.”
Kim stated that North Korea’s goal of becoming a military superpower and a nuclear power would be expedited. He pointed out that the military alliance between the United States and South Korea has become nuclear-based, necessitating continual high military preparedness.
Warning against disruptions to the military balance, Kim issued a threat to use nuclear weapons in response to challenges from the world’s largest nuclear power. He asserted that North Korea would not tolerate any interference on the Korean Peninsula.
These statements underscore the ongoing tensions in the region and North Korea’s commitment to enhancing its military capabilities.
