New NSS chief cautions officers to avoid political involvement and corruption

The Director General of the Internal Security Bureau (ISB) of the National Security Service (NSS), Gen. Akec Tong Aleu, recently addressed officers at the ISB headquarters in Juba City. He sternly warned against political involvement and corruption within the security force. Gen. Tong emphasized that lobbying for political positions is strictly prohibited and urged officers to focus on their mandate.

In his address, Gen. Tong also promised to work on promoting deserving officers who have served for a long time. Furthermore, he emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, stating that any acts of corruption would not be tolerated during his tenure.

The Minister for National Security, Obuto Mamur Mete, echoed Gen. Tong’s sentiments, urging officers to uphold the mission and vision of the service. He emphasized the importance of unity and protecting all South Sudanese citizens regardless of tribal or gender distinctions.

Minister Mamur also stressed the need for a transparent and democratic process for those seeking leadership positions, ensuring they have been cleared by the NSS to prevent any hidden agendas.
