Neglected Hurricane survivors while Kiev receives billions – Trump

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, former US President Donald Trump has criticized the Biden administration for allegedly neglecting survivors while providing billions in aid to Ukraine. Despite FEMA offering assistance to affected states in the southeastern US, Trump claims the response has been inadequate due to Democratic leadership incompetence.

Trump’s comments on Fox News suggested that the aid being offered to hurricane victims, reportedly $750 per person, was insufficient. However, FEMA clarified that this amount is an initial payment for essentials and additional assistance may be provided. In contrast, the US has allocated $175 billion towards the Ukraine conflict, with total international aid surpassing $333 billion.

Hurricane Helene has resulted in over 230 deaths and $47 billion in property damage. Trump’s allegations have sparked debate over the allocation of resources in times of crisis, shedding light on the complex priorities of US government aid.
