The ANC national officials, led by President Cyril Ramaphosa, have accepted the explanation given by Gauteng chair Panyaza Lesufi regarding his negative remarks about the government of national unity (GNU). ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula confirmed that Lesufi was summoned to Luthuli House to clarify his statements, as they were not in line with ANC national executive committee (NEC) resolutions.
Mbalula stated that Lesufi appeared before the top seven ANC officials and his explanation was accepted. He emphasized the importance of giving party members a fair hearing when there are concerns about their behavior potentially harming the ANC’s reputation.
This incident highlights the ANC’s commitment to internal accountability and adherence to organizational values. The party’s willingness to address issues and uphold its principles sets a positive example for other political entities. Moving forward, it is essential for ANC members to align their public statements with the party’s resolutions and objectives.
