In a recent scandal involving the construction of Yongsan Children’s Garden, a company without any experience in facility management secured a series of lucrative contracts, sparking allegations of favoritism. The company, Oltomeimsi, primarily known for events, landed a contract worth 209 million won for the temporary opening of Yongsan Park shortly after President Yoon Suk-yeol took office in July 2022.
Despite lacking relevant experience, Oltomeimsi went on to secure multiple contracts totaling 13 billion won for Yongsan Children’s Garden. The company even managed to win a contract worth over 18 billion won for the temporary opening of a return site, raising eyebrows in the process.
Amid growing concerns, lawmaker Jung Joon-ho of the Democratic Party criticized the hasty qualifications adjustment and the lack of transparency in the contract award process. He called for a thorough investigation into possible violations of relevant laws.
While Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Park Sang-woo defended the legality of the contracts, questions linger about the integrity of the selection process and the company’s qualifications.
