Former Lebanese Leader Criticizes Iranian Foreign Minister
Former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt sharply criticized Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, stating, “He cannot give us lessons in confrontation.” Jumblatt’s comments came after Princess Hayat Arslan told Araqchi to “Go back to Iran and do not interfere in Lebanon” via Twitter.
Iran is accused of betraying its proxies Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Jumblatt emphasized the importance of implementing UN Resolutions 1701 and 1559 and focusing on the well-being of the Lebanese citizens.
In a recent meeting, Jumblatt, Speaker Nabih Berri, and caretaker PM Najib Mikati emphasized a ceasefire, presidential elections, and Lebanese unity. Jumblatt underlined the urgency of electing a consensus president to navigate the ongoing crisis.
Despite critics like FPM leader Gebran Bassil, Jumblatt remains committed to finding a resolution and securing international and Arab support. As the conflict escalates, Jumblatt urges effective participation and a united front to address the humanitarian crisis Lebanon faces.
