Lebanese state media reported two new Israeli strikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs. The area had been targeted in an earlier raid as well. In Tel Aviv, over 3,000 people attended an alternative memorial for victims and hostages of Hamas attacks. Emotional testimonials and performances marked the event.
Israeli aircraft also bombed Hezbollah’s stronghold in south Beirut, with six strikes reported. Hamas claimed responsibility for firing rockets into southern Israel on the anniversary of a previous attack.
Since Hamas’s attack on Israel last October, over 2,000 people have been killed in Lebanon, with 1,000 deaths in the past week and 1.2 million displaced. Nine Israeli soldiers have died in southern Lebanon since a ground operation began on October 1.
