Iraq, UK talks on Israel’s escalation in Gaza, Lebanon

During a recent phone conversation between the Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, and the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs, David Lammy, the topic of Israel’s escalation in the region was discussed.

Hussein stressed the importance of preventing the spread of war throughout the region, warning of the potential social, economic, and security catastrophe that could arise if the conflict is not halted.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister urged influential countries to intervene and end the Israeli war in Gaza and Lebanon. In response, Lammy highlighted the British government’s efforts to secure a ceasefire in these areas.

Lammy assured that the UK is committed to reducing tensions and protecting Iraq from any consequences of the conflict. He emphasized the strong relationship between Iraq and Britain, expressing optimism for further strengthening these ties.

Additionally, discussions included economic and cooperation agreements between Iraq and Britain, as well as the situation of Iraqis residing illegally in the United Kingdom.
