The Ministry of Development and Technology (MRiT) is proposing new regulations to allow municipalities to designate allotment garden locations within their local planning zones. This proposal, currently under public consultation and interministerial discussions, aims to include allotment gardens in all 13 designated planning zones.
This change is part of an amendment to the ordinance on municipal planning to remove any ambiguous interpretations in current regulations. To expedite the process, the ministry fast-tracked the project for public and interministerial consultations on September 20.
With approximately 4,500 allotment gardens covering 40,000 hectares in Poland, these green spaces hold over 900,000 developed plots. They are essential to the urban and rural landscape, providing recreational areas and opportunities for cultivation.
