France and Qatar provide emergency aid to Lebanon, says French Foreign Minister | Politics News

French and Qatari Military Planes Deliver Urgent Aid to Lebanon

France and Qatar teamed up to deliver crucial humanitarian aid to Lebanon on Tuesday amidst escalating crisis in the country. France’s foreign minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, highlighted the importance of providing aid to prevent Lebanon from descending into a situation similar to that of Syria, plagued by instability, terrorism, and mass migration.

27 metric tonnes of medicines and essential supplies, including blankets and hygiene kits, were flown in by French and Qatari military planes to assist local aid groups in supporting the injured and displaced population. Paris, with its deep-rooted connection to Lebanon, has been collaborating with the US to establish a ceasefire in the region, which faced setbacks after recent heavy bombings in Beirut.

Barrot emphasized the necessity for both parties to adhere to the proposed ceasefire to safeguard Lebanon’s sovereignty and ensure security for Israel. Plans for a forthcoming conference on Lebanon, focusing on humanitarian aid, bolstering the Lebanese army, and addressing the political vacuum, are also in motion.
