Electoral commission announces Saied’s victory in Tunisia’s presidential election.

Saied secures a landslide victory with 90.7% of the vote in Tunisia’s presidential election.

Tunisian President Kais Saied has been re-elected for a second term in a dramatic landslide victory, winning 90.7% of the vote in the recent presidential election, according to the Independent High Authority for Elections of Tunisia (ISIE).

The voter turnout was reported to be at a low of 28.8%, marking the lowest since the 2011 revolution. Despite the lower turnout, Saied managed to secure a decisive win against two opponents, including Zouhair Maghzaoui and Ayachi Zammel.

Saied, who has been in power since 2019, has faced criticism for his crackdown on political opposition and the perceived erosion of democratic norms in Tunisia. His actions, including the dissolution of the elected parliament and rewriting of the constitution, have been labeled as undemocratic by his detractors.

Despite the controversy surrounding his presidency, Saied remains resolute in his mission to combat corruption and uphold the values of the revolution. As Tunisia navigates through a challenging political landscape, the future under Saied’s leadership remains uncertain yet promising.
