The Latest Update on DHA Housing Scheme in Hawkesbay
The Sindh High Court recently heard about a proposal for allotment of land to the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) for its housing scheme in Hawkesbay. The provincial government revealed that while there is a proposal, no final decision has been made yet.
During the hearing, the court directed the government to clarify its policy on land allotment and the procedure for regularizing old villages. The court also restrained the government from allotting any land for housing schemes, including to DHA, until the next hearing.
The legal complexities surrounding the Housing Authority Ordinance, 1982, and the now-applicable Sindh Cooperative Societies Act, 2020, were discussed. The court emphasized the need for a fresh survey of the area and formation of a committee to assess the situation on the ground.
As the hearing was adjourned for four weeks, it was highlighted that one petitioner failed to appear, prompting the court to ensure their presence next time.
