The recent tensions between the federal government and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government escalated as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) sealed KP House for building violations. This action was taken following a police raid to arrest Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur after he led a protest against constitutional amendments and the imprisonment of party founder Imran Khan.
CDA Special Magistrate Sardar Asif, with the support of the police, sealed KP House citing illegal construction after repeated notices were ignored by the administration. CDA’s Media Director Shahid Kiani asserted that the operation was standard procedure and not politically motivated.
Despite claims of impartiality, several buildings including Punjab House, Balochistan House, AJK House, and Gilgit-Baltistan House operate in Islamabad with expired lease agreements. The elite Islamabad Club is also under scrutiny for alleged encroachments on state land.
CDA emphasized that actions against building violations were not selective, citing violations by commercial buildings, agro farmhouses, and other government properties. The situation highlights the need for compliance with building regulations to avoid legal consequences.
