Villarruel and the conservative Rollán talked for over an hour

Argentine Vice President Victoria Villarruel met Monday in Madrid with her Senate Speaker colleague Pedro Rollán on the opening day of her first trip abroad since her inauguration last year.

Villarruel and the conservative Rollán discussed Argentine President Javier Milei’s efforts to restore confidence and legal security in the country. They also reviewed bilateral ties. Argentina’s Ambassador to Spain, Roberto Bosch, accompanied Villarruel during the meeting.

Rollán, from the Popular Party (PP), criticized Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s diplomatic decisions regarding Argentina. He will be traveling to Buenos Aires to participate in a parliamentary forum on security and intelligence later in October.

On Tuesday, Villarruel will attend a conference on Victims of Terrorism in Spain. She has a history of advocating for victims’ rights and has been vocal about human rights violations during the “Dirty War” in the 1970s. Villarruel is also scheduled to meet with Pope Francis in Vatican City later this week.
