A warm welcome awaits Florence Bauer, the UNFPA Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, on her first official visit to Armenia from October 8 to 10, 2024. The visit aims to strengthen demographic resilience, implement Armenia’s new demographic strategy, and address crucial issues such as sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, and youth empowerment.
During her stay, Ms. Bauer will engage in high-level discussions with government officials, parliament members, and NGO representatives to develop long-term solutions for Armenia’s demographic challenges. A key focus will be the creation of UNFPA’s Country Program Document for Armenia for 2026-2030, aligning with national priorities and UNFPA’s strategic support.
The visit also marks the introduction of the new head of the UNFPA Armenian office to key partners. This visit is a significant milestone in fostering stronger partnerships and advancing towards a more resilient, equitable, and healthier future for all Armenians.
