In Shabwa province, eastern Yemen, a prominent local official, engineer Salem Souban Al-Khulaifi, has been kidnapped and forcibly disappeared by UAE-funded factions. He has been held in Ataq Airport prison for eight days without legal process.
Souban, the former Director General of the Water and Sanitation Corporation, was reportedly abducted due to a land dispute with leaders of the “Second Brigade” of Shabwa Defense. This incident reflects the ongoing security issues in the region.
The abduction is believed to be driven by personal interests, with pressure from Wajdi Al-Khulaifi, the leader of the “Second Brigade”. Souban had previously worked under the authority of the former governor of Shabwa, Muhammad Saleh bin Adio.
This unfortunate event highlights the lack of security and rule of law in Shabwa, emphasizing the need for swift action to ensure the safety and rights of individuals in the region.
