Over 3,000 pro-Palestinian protestors gathered near the White House to denounce Israel’s military actions in Gaza and Lebanon. The peaceful rally escalated into a march through Washington, DC, with calls to end the violence against Palestinians and cut off arms support to Israel.
Chanting “Free Palestine” and displaying signs demanding an end to US aid for Israel, the protestors demanded an immediate cease-fire in Gaza. Medea Benjamin from the peace group, CODEPINK, highlighted the urgent need for action from the US government.
Benjamin criticized US backing of Israel’s actions in Gaza, emphasizing that the current path only leads to more death and destruction. She also warned against potential Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Iran.
Anti-war activist Carrie Muniak urged President Biden and Vice President Harris to stop supplying arms to Israel, citing violations of the Leahy law. Jewish protester Liana Smith expressed dismay over the US support for “genocide” in Gaza and other regions.
