Terrorist assault in Pakistan results in deaths of two Chinese nationals

Tragedy struck in Karachi last night as two Chinese nationals were killed in a terrorist attack near the international airport. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the explosion, targeting Chinese engineers in a convoy from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company. The Chinese embassy in Pakistan strongly condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the victims and their families.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured that Pakistan is committed to ensuring the safety of their Chinese friends and vowed to investigate the incident. The upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Islamabad is now under scrutiny, with high-level Chinese representation expected. Security measures are being reinforced to prevent any further incidents during the summit.

The BLA, seeking independence for Balochistan, has a history of targeting Chinese interests due to allegations of exploitation by the Pakistani government. This recent attack adds to a series of security issues affecting Chinese investments in Pakistan. Despite the challenges, both countries remain dedicated to their economic partnership.
