Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Assures Chinese of Personal Oversight After Karachi Attack
Following a terror attack near the Karachi airport that claimed the lives of two Chinese nationals, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has pledged to personally oversee the investigation. The attack, which occurred late Sunday night, involved a powerful explosion near Jinnah International Airport, resulting in three deaths and at least 11 injuries.
Conflicting reports emerged regarding the nature of the explosion, with officials describing it as both an IED blast and an incident caused by a vehicle colliding with an oil tanker. The banned outfit Baloch Liberation Army’s Majeed Brigade claimed responsibility for the attack.
Shehbaz visited the Chinese Embassy to express condolences and ensure that those responsible for the incident will be brought to justice swiftly. Security measures for foreigners will be increased, and the Chinese Ambassador expressed confidence in Pakistan’s investigation.
The Foreign Office condemned the attack and vowed to apprehend the perpetrators, emphasizing the strong bond between Pakistan and China. The Chinese embassy also called for a thorough investigation and increased security measures for Chinese citizens in Pakistan.
