Tragedy strikes as the death toll rises to 15 in Donja Jablanica due to devastating floods and landslides. Search efforts are still underway for over 10 missing individuals, with the situation being described as dire.
Multiple organizations, including the Federal Civil Protection Administration, Mountain Rescue Service (GSS), Federal Police, local residents, and Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS) with cadaver dogs, are actively involved in the rescue mission.
However, accessibility to the located bodies is hindered by debris and stones, delaying retrieval. The search operation is expanding with the involvement of rescue teams from Serbia, Montenegro, and Slovenia through international coordination mechanisms and the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Authorities are discouraging individuals from independent rescue attempts and are requesting machinery assistance. As speculations arise regarding a nearby quarry’s role in triggering the disaster, the prosecutor’s office has initiated an investigation, with only one official, Nermin Niksic, addressing the issue so far.
