Russia denies any agreement to divide Ukraine

Russia has rejected the proposal of ending the war in Ukraine through a division of the country, as suggested by some Western countries. President Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, stated that no real basis exists for the various peace deal ideas that have been put forward.

References were made to a potential “German scenario,” where Germany reportedly discussed the idea of Russia occupying part of Ukraine temporarily while the rest of the country joins NATO or receives strong security guarantees. However, the German government has not officially commented on this proposal.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has stood firm in rejecting such solutions, insisting on the return of all occupied territories without any compromise on sovereignty or territory. Meanwhile, Russia’s objective in the conflict includes preventing Ukraine’s NATO membership.
