In a recent interview with CNN Turk, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus emphasized Türkiye’s role as a pillar of stability in the region. He highlighted Türkiye’s significance in maintaining regional stability and condemned Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip, calling it a “significant crime against humanity.” Kurtulmus criticized the international community’s response, particularly the UN’s ineffectiveness.
Kurtulmus also discussed the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, expressing optimism about the potential for peace. He advocated for the swift normalization of relations between Türkiye and Syria, stressing the need for internal normalization in Syria.
With Türkiye facing regional threats on its doorstep, Kurtulmus urged for an end to Israel’s attacks against Lebanon and the creation of stability to prevent a new wave of migrants. He also addressed arms embargoes against Türkiye, calling for Washington to reconsider.
Stay tuned for an upcoming closed parliamentary session where foreign and defense ministers will brief lawmakers on regional developments.
