Pakistan to ‘dissolve’ two Health Ministry authorities

Government of Pakistan to Dissolve Health Ministries and Merge Others for Efficiency

The Pakistani government has announced plans to dissolve two authorities under the Health Ministry to streamline healthcare services and cut costs. The Islamabad Blood Transfusion Authority and Human Organ Transplant Authority will merge with the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority, reducing staff significantly.

In addition, the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) will be dissolved and merged into the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Recommendations from the Rightsizing Committee prompted this move. The sale of state properties will fund welfare programs in Azad Kashmir and GB, with the administrative wing of SAFRON dissolved and control of DHS in Kashmir and GB transferred to the respective governments.

Furthermore, the Jammu and Kashmir Refugee Rehabilitation Organization will be dissolved, and staff reductions are expected in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Councils. This comprehensive restructuring aims to improve healthcare services and enhance overall efficiency in government bodies.
