Netherlands pledges $400M for Ukraine drone project

Netherlands pledges 0M for Ukraine drone project

Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced a 400 million euro investment in a joint drone development initiative with Ukraine during his recent visit to Kyiv. This initiative will focus on various types of drones, including surveillance, defensive, and offensive drones, to support Ukraine’s defense against Russian forces and attacks on critical infrastructure. The Netherlands has already committed 10 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion, with a significant portion allocated to this new drone project.

Furthermore, additional F-16 fighter jets will be delivered to Ukraine in the near future to bolster their defense capabilities. The investment will be split between the Netherlands, Ukraine, and other countries, with potential for more funding if the project succeeds. This support is crucial as Ukraine continues to face pressure from Russian forces and escalate attacks on military facilities. The joint initiative aims to strengthen Ukraine’s defense and protect its sovereignty in the face of ongoing threats.
