First Batch of Dutch F-16 Jets Arrive in Ukraine
The Defense Minister of the Netherlands, Ruben Brekelmans, has announced the delivery of the first batch of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine as part of the military aid promised by the Dutch government. The Netherlands, part of the ‘F-16 coalition,’ pledged to donate 24 US-made aircraft to the Ukrainian Air Force over a year ago.
Brekelmans unveiled that the Netherlands will also invest €400 million into developing high-tech drones for the Ukrainian military. Emphasizing the importance of drones in modern warfare, Brekelmans highlighted the need for rapid development and deployment.
Despite challenges in assembling a Patriot air defense system for Ukraine, the Netherlands has provided more than €3.76 billion in military aid since 2022. Moscow has warned that foreign aid would not deter its troops but rather increase the risk of direct conflict with NATO.
