Labour Party denounces elections in Port Harcourt council

The Labour Party has vehemently denounced the recent elections in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Rivers State, labeling them as a mere “coronation” rather than a legitimate electoral process. Dr. Francis Matthew, Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party Port Harcourt Campaign Council, criticized the elections for disregarding electoral laws and the principles of free, fair, and credible elections.

Matthew pointed out various irregularities, such as the non-use of the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the absence of result sheets in the majority of polling units. The Labour Party has challenged the outcomes of the elections and is prepared to engage in a legal battle to seek justice. Despite the setback, the party remains resolute and encouraged its supporters to have faith in the judicial system.

The party vowed to pursue its legal battle with overwhelming evidence and ensure that the people of Port Harcourt can exercise their democratic rights effectively. The focus is on rectifying the abnormalities witnessed during the elections and upholding the integrity of the electoral process in Rivers State.
