The Israeli army has issued new evacuation orders for civilians in three cities in the northern Gaza Strip, coinciding with the anniversary of Israel’s genocidal war on the Palestinian enclave. The orders instruct Palestinian residents in Beit Hanoun, Jabalia, and Beit Lahia to leave their homes and head south using the designated Salah al-Din Road.
Additionally, residents of Bani Suheila, al-Mahatta, Sheikh Nasser, and Ma’an in Khan Younis have been ordered to evacuate to the Israeli army-designated “safe zone” in southern Gaza, al-Mawasi. These orders are part of a repeated pattern by the Israeli army since October 7, 2023, targeting Northern Gaza.
The plan to evacuate Northern Gaza aligns with a strategy proposed by former Israeli generals and currently under consideration by Israel’s Security Cabinet. Despite a UN resolution calling for a cease-fire, Israel has continued its offensive on Gaza, leading to widespread displacement and humanitarian crises.
Facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice, Israel’s actions in Gaza have drawn condemnation for their impact on civilians and disregard for international law.
