South African President Urges Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza
South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, warning that a protracted conflict could lead to more innocent lives lost. Ramaphosa emphasized the need for international intervention to end the violence against Palestinians in the region.
He highlighted the escalating situation in the Middle East and the toll it takes on civilians, particularly Palestinians. Ramaphosa condemned the violence by Israel against Palestinians and reiterated the country’s commitment to a peaceful resolution to end the occupation of Palestine.
As part of their efforts, South Africa plans to file a memorial with the International Court of Justice to hold those accountable for the conflict. Ramaphosa stressed the importance of respecting international law and called for humanitarian aid to reach the affected populations in Gaza.
