Explosion outside Karachi Airport injures 8

A devastating explosion outside Karachi Airport in Pakistan on Sunday left at least eight people injured and destroyed numerous vehicles, according to officials.

Initial reports suggested that a tanker detonated near the airport, Pakistan’s largest, but provincial home minister Zia Ul Hassan indicated it may have been a targeted attack on foreigners.

While a Home Ministry source revealed that Chinese nationals were the apparent targets, with one individual sustaining injuries, the motive remains unclear.

The incident comes at a time when thousands of Chinese workers are in Pakistan as part of the Belt and Road Initiative, a major infrastructure project linking Asia to China.

Witnesses captured footage of burning cars and thick smoke billowing from the area, as security forces swiftly responded to the scene.

Dr. Sumayya Tariq, a police surgeon, disclosed that one victim is in critical condition, including four security personnel, underscoring the severity of the attack.

Rahat Hussain, a civil aviation employee, described the blast as so powerful that it rattled the airport’s structures.
