Gen Akol KoorKuc to Return to Juba as New Warrap State Governor
After being removed as the head of Intelligence, newly-appointed Warrap State Governor Gen Akol KoorKuc is set to return to Juba on Wednesday. A letter of invitation to the Warrap State community in Juba has called for a warm welcome at the Juba International Airport on October 7.
The Warrap State Community Coordinator, Kur Akol Malek, urged residents, government officials, community leaders, and other groups from Warrap to gather at the airport to mark the occasion. National and state ministers, MPs, youth leaders, cultural groups, and media outlets are also invited to participate in the event.
Having led the National Security Service’s Internal Security Bureau for years, Koor’s removal was part of a broader security reshuffle. His appointment as Governor of Warrap State presents challenges given the region’s history of political volatility and insecurity.
