Electric vehicle (EV) dealers saw a surge in sales during the recent “golden week” holiday in China, thanks to government subsidies that are set to expire soon. Buyers rushed to take advantage of the incentives, fearing a slowdown in sales if they are discontinued next year.
Despite the lack of specific figures, dealers reported a significant increase in transactions and interest in EVs during the holiday period. Tian Maowei, a sales manager at Yiyou Auto Service in Shanghai, noted that many customers believed it was the perfect time to purchase electric vehicles due to the subsidies provided by central and local authorities.
Sales director Zhao Zhen from Wan Zhuo Auto in Shanghai revealed that some salesmen were selling more than 10 cars a day since October 1, compared to usual sales figures.
The “golden week” holiday ended on Monday, marking a successful period for EV dealerships across China.
