Belgorod Oblast Offers Record Sign-Up Bonus for Joining Russian Military
Belgorod Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced a nationwide record 3 million rubles signing bonus for residents joining the Russian military, aiming to bolster the decimated forces. The bonus surpasses previous incentives in other regions like Moscow and Khanty-Mansi autonomous district.
The bonus will be paid to recruits enlisting between Oct. 7 and the end of 2024, providing a substantial financial boost compared to the country’s average monthly wage. In a strategic move, rather than implementing a widespread draft, Russia seeks to attract recruits through lucrative bonuses, doubling the payment for those serving in Ukraine.
With ongoing tensions in neighboring Ukraine, Russia continues covert recruitment to replenish its military ranks. The establishment of troop groups in Belgorod, Kursk, and Bryansk oblasts highlights the escalating situation near the Ukrainian border.
