Transforming Nigeria’s Agricultural Sector: A Pledge to Reduce Post-Harvest Losses

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is on a mission to slash post-harvest losses in the agricultural sector by 25% to enhance food security and domestic production. This ambitious commitment was reiterated during the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones High-Level Implementation Acceleration Dialogue in Abuja.

The initiative aims to establish agro-industrial processing zones across Nigeria, focusing on key crops like cassava, rice, maize, and cocoa to boost productivity, reduce losses, and create jobs. Minister Abubakar Kyari emphasized the need for collaboration to tackle challenges within the sector.

Finance Minister Wale Edun emphasized the government’s dedication to industrialization through agriculture for economic stability. The collaboration with state governments and private sector partners is crucial for the success of the program.
