The Lakes State authorities have announced the arrest of two soldiers from SSPDF’s Tiger Division and a policeman in connection with the tragic killing of a mother traveling with her nine-month-old baby in a road ambush at Pacong area of Rumbek East County. The victim was a passenger in a vehicle heading from Akon town of Warrap State to Juba.
State Acting Information and Communication Minister, William Koji, confirmed that the suspects, who were security officers deployed in the Pacong area, were apprehended for firing at the vehicle and causing the mother’s death. He emphasized the government’s commitment to upholding the law and ensuring accountability for the perpetrators.
The suspects will undergo a thorough investigation and face trial in competent courts, as stated by Koji. Lakes State civil society activists have praised the government for taking swift action in capturing the alleged killers.
