Ukraine shoots down Russian plane; Russia reports eastward progress

A Russian fighter plane was shot down by Ukrainian forces, while Russia claimed to have made gains in Ukraine’s east. The incident occurred near the city of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk province, causing a fire in a house where the charred remains of the aircraft landed. Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced the capture of the village of Zhelanne Druhe in the occupied Donetsk province, following the retreat of Ukrainian forces from the town of Vuhledar.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to present his “victory plan” at the upcoming meeting of the Ramstein group, emphasizing the need for support from international partners to stop Russian aggression. Additionally, two people died in Russian shelling in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, and Ukraine’s air force reported intercepting missiles and drones launched by Russia.

Amid escalating tensions, both sides have engaged in military actions resulting in casualties and destruction. The situation remains volatile as Ukraine seeks support and strategies to resist Russian advances and protect its sovereignty.
