UK PM’s chief of staff resigns amidst internal conflict rumors

The British Prime Minister’s chief of staff, Sue Gray, has resigned after just three months in the role amidst rumors of in-fighting in Keir Starmer’s team. Ms. Gray stated that she was stepping down to avoid becoming a distraction to the government’s important work of change.

She will now take on a new role as the Prime Minister’s envoy for regions and nations. Keir Starmer expressed his gratitude for Ms. Gray’s support and announced that she will continue to strengthen relations with regions and nations in her new position.

Morgan McSweeney, a former head of political strategy at Downing Street, will succeed Ms. Gray. He played a crucial role in the recent general election campaign and hails from Macroom, Co Cork.

In her statement, Ms. Gray emphasized her commitment to public service and expressed her eagerness to support the Prime Minister in her new capacity.
