Russian activist killed in Kharkiv fighting for Ukraine

Russian opposition activist Ildar Dadin, known as the first person convicted under the “Dadin Article” in Russia, was reportedly killed in battle in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. Former Echo of Moscow journalist Ksenia Larina shared this news on social media, citing information from a fellow soldier, Igor Volobuyev. Dadin, who had served over two years in prison and faced torture, joined Ukraine’s armed forces in 2023, first in the Siberian Battalion and later in the Freedom of Russia legion.

Ukraine’s military intelligence confirmed the presence of Russian citizens fighting in Ukraine, emphasizing their autonomy and determination to pursue their own social and political tasks. Kyrylo Budanov, the military intelligence chief, acknowledged the support provided by anti-Kremlin militias during Russia’s invasion, with Ukrainian forces aiming to assist them to the best of their abilities.

The recent escalation in Russian drone attacks on Ukraine indicates a concerning trend, with a record number of kamikaze drones targeting Ukrainian cities. Despite efforts to combat these threats, experts warn of potentially more severe attacks in the future.
