PM-Kundi meeting creates buzz in Pakistan

The possibility of governor’s rule being imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa sparked rumors as the province’s governor met with PM Shehbaz Sharif amidst PTI supporters led by CM Ali Amin Gandapur marching towards Islamabad.

However, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi clarified that he had no intention of ruling the province to avoid turning PTI into a political martyr. The meeting between the governor and PM Sharif was confirmed by the PM Office and PPP, but details were not disclosed.

Governor Kundi, in an interview with Hum News, mentioned that he didn’t want to garner more sympathy for PTI, but acknowledged the constitutional provision for such scenarios. Article 234 of the Constitution outlines the process for the president or governor to assume control in case of a failure of constitutional machinery in a province, with a two-month time limit and ratification by parliament.

While the federal government’s stance on the matter remains unclear, the potential of governor’s rule looms over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, awaiting further developments.
