Pakistan’s Opposition Party Seeks Missing Chief Minister

Pakistan’s main opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has filed a petition in court seeking the whereabouts of the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Ali Amin Gandapur. Gandapur has been missing since Saturday night following clashes between protesters and police in Islamabad. Despite government denials of his arrest, the PTI accuses security forces of kidnapping him.

The protests were sparked by proposed constitutional amendments that are seen as limiting the power of the judiciary. One police officer has died, and hundreds have been injured in the clashes. The PTI has called off its protest in the capital but continues its protest in Lahore. The government has deployed the army to ensure security for the upcoming SCO summit.

The PTI is also demanding the release of imprisoned former prime minister Khan and the independence of the judiciary. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
