The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently targeted and killed two high-ranking members of Hamas in Lebanon. The IDF identified the individuals as Muhammad Hussein Ali al-Mahmoud and Said Alaa Naif Ali. Al-Mahmoud was described as Hamas’ top official in Lebanon, responsible for orchestrating attacks against Israel in the West Bank. Meanwhile, Ali was accused of carrying out terrorist activities targeting Israeli interests and recruiting Hamas members within Lebanon.
Hamas confirmed Ali’s death during an Israeli strike on the Beddawi refugee camp near Tripoli. Additionally, Al-Mahmoud was killed in a separate strike in the Saadnayel area of Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa region. These targeted killings come in the midst of escalating tensions between Israel and Hamas, with recent clashes resulting in casualties on both sides.
Israel’s military operations in Lebanon have led to a significant loss of life, with over 2,000 people killed, including women and children. The conflict has also extended to Hezbollah fighters along the Israel-Lebanon border, resulting in casualties on both sides. The IDF reported that more than 400 Hezbollah fighters have been killed since the start of their ground operation.
