Islamabad cop martyred in clashes last weekend – Pakistan

Islamabad’s brave policeman Abdul Hameed Shah tragically embraced martyrdom after enduring injuries during protests in the capital city. Miscreants attacked Shah after abducting him, leading to his untimely death. Shah, a dedicated member of the Investigations Wing and a resident of Abbottabad, was set to retire soon after a longstanding career in the police force since 1988.

Clashes between PTI supporters and the police escalated in Islamabad, coinciding with the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued a warning against PTI protesters, highlighting evidence of live firing incidents. A total of 564 individuals, including Afghans and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police personnel, were arrested in connection with the violent protests.

The army was deployed to bolster security measures in the capital, ensuring a swift response to any emergencies. PTI supporters gathered at D-Chowk amidst heavy rain, seeking refuge from tear gas shelling by the police.
