Renowned Japanese food critic and television personality Yukio Hattori, also known as Yukihiko Someya, has passed away at the age of 78. Hattori, who was a prominent figure in the culinary world, collapsed at Hattori Nutrition College in Tokyo and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Having completed his education in public health, Hattori went on to become the principal of Hattori Nutrition College and played a key role in promoting dietary education in Japan. His appearance as a commentator on the popular TV show “Iron Chef” in the 1990s brought him widespread recognition and admiration.

Throughout his career, Hattori received several prestigious awards, including the Chevalier from the French government for his contribution to promoting French cuisine in Japan and the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, a distinguished honor in Japan.
