Thousands of protesters worldwide gathered to demand an end to the violence in Gaza and the broader Middle East as the anniversary of Hamas’ attack on Israel approached. About 40,000 pro-Palestinian demonstrators marched in London, while similar rallies happened in Paris, Rome, Manila, Cape Town, and New York City. Protests near the White House criticized U.S. support for Israel’s military actions in Gaza and Lebanon.

In Times Square, New York, protesters called for an arms embargo against Israel. The conflict, initiated by a Hamas attack in 2023, has resulted in significant casualties and displacements in Gaza. International demonstrations expressed solidarity with Palestine while tensions and clashes were reported in various cities.

The conflict’s escalation drew attention to rising antisemitism and Islamophobia, prompting concerns from rights advocates. Global pressure on Israel and concerns over regional stability underline the urgent need for a peaceful resolution.
