At just 21 years old, Fawzia Amin Sido, a Yazidi woman from Iraq’s Nineveh Province, has endured unimaginable suffering under the brutal rule of ISIS. Recently freed from captivity in Gaza, Fawzia’s harrowing journey sheds light on the atrocities faced by her community and the international efforts that ultimately secured her freedom.
Abducted during the 2014 ISIS attack on Sinjar, Fawzia was among thousands of Yazidis taken captive. Forced into marriage and enduring years of enslavement, her ordeal finally came to an end after a complex rescue operation coordinated by Iraqi and international authorities.
