El-Rufai’s administration accused of securing Kaduna N36b loan in months

Two prominent Northern groups, the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF) and the Northern Awareness Network (NAN), have issued a stern warning to individuals spreading false information about the Kaduna State Government’s 36 billion Naira loan. The groups expressed their disappointment with the reports by an online media organization alleging that the Uba Sani administration took the loan in just six months, labeling it as a deliberate attempt to discredit the government.

In a joint statement, the President General of AYCF, Yerima Shettima, and the Chairman of NAN, Salihu Suleiman, denounced the misleading report and extended their support to the Kaduna State Government for managing the debts left by the previous administration. Shettima emphasized the long-standing commitments funded by the World Bank, indicating that these initiatives were initiated before Governor Uba Sani assumed office.

The groups also raised concerns about the potential motives behind the false report, linking it to the previous administration under Nasir Elrufai, which has faced scrutiny over unaccounted debts. They called for a swift legal process against Elrufai to ensure transparency and accountability.

Both AYCF and NAN emphasized the importance of factual reporting and urged media outlets to uphold integrity and responsibility in their dissemination of information to the public.
