Amr al-Samadoni, the Secretary-General of the International Transport and Logistics Division, is calling for a specific plan to develop the ‘Nasser for Export and Import’ company, which is part of the public business sector. The goal of this plan is to open up new markets for Egyptian products, especially in Africa, and to utilize the logistics centers being established in different African countries.
Al-Samadoni highlights Egypt’s membership in various international trade agreements like COMESA and the African Continental Free Trade Area, which will aid in collaboration with new trade partners. He emphasizes the importance of enhancing trade relations between Egypt and Africa due to their increasing economic, political, and developmental significance.
The Nasser for Export and Import Company was once instrumental in facilitating trade with Arab, European, and African nations by exporting a range of Egyptian products. However, its significance dwindled over time until its role virtually disappeared. The government’s recent initiatives like the ‘Jusoor’ project and an electronic catalog aim to boost exports.
The Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, along with relevant authorities, have launched an executive plan to double Egypt’s exports to African countries by 2025, targeting $15 billion. Together, these efforts seek to revive Egypt’s trade presence in Africa.
